parakeet bird cages
There are many species of parrots exist, and parakeet is the most among all the species. This term “parakeet” is basically a general name of long-tailed parrots of small to medium size, and those on the smaller end of the range are called budgies.
Choosing an ideal parakeet bird cages could be a hassle regardless you are getting it for your first parakeet or having a replacement on the existing one. Cages are definitely the most important place for your parakeet as they will spend most of their time in that house.
Our first consideration of choosing parakeet bird cages is to ensure that the size of the cage must be comfortable for their daily living, and not one that is just barely big enough for them to squeeze in. We have to consider the wingspan of those birds; at least the space must be sufficient for them to spread their wings. The minimum suggested parakeet bird cage size provided if you have one bird is 18″ wide x 14″ deep x 22″ high.
Parakeet normally is more suitable to be living in a rectangular cage than a circular type. It is because that they tend to rest in the corners or edge of the cages as that makes them feel more protected.
The material that is used for the construction of the cage is equally important. Materials that are easily being damage or peel off are often not in the choice of selection. Material such as stainless steel, or wired with epoxy or powered coated are normally found in the market, while material such as wood or bamboo are less available.
Next, we have to take a look at the spacing between the bars of the cages. Normally we would not want spacing more than 1.5mm or 2mm, depends on the size of your parakeet. Anything larger than that, and your parakeet might get his head stuck between them.
Then we have to consider on the cleaning of the cages. We preferred that trays at the bottom of the cages could be easily removable for easy maintenance and cleaning. Lastly, always make sure the cages have large door for your easy maintenance.
